Senior Living Families Check 3 to 4 Review Sites Before Calling — Are Yours Showing Up?

Families do not stop at Google. They cross-reference A Place for Mom, Caring.com, Facebook, and more before picking up the phone. Here is what that means for your website.

There is a common assumption in senior living marketing that Google is where families do their review research. If your Google reviews are strong, the thinking goes, you are covered.

The reality is more complicated — and more demanding. Families making a senior living decision are under significant emotional pressure and making one of the most consequential choices of their lives. They do not make that choice after reading one platform. They cross-reference. They verify. They check and then check again.

The Family Research Journey

It typically starts with a Google search. The family searches for senior living communities near them — or near their parent — and sees a list of results. Google reviews are visible in those results, so they factor into which communities the family clicks on. If your Google rating is 4.5 or higher with a meaningful number of reviews, you make the short list.

But the research does not stop there. Families then typically navigate to A Place for Mom, which is one of the most trusted independent resources for senior living research. They search for the communities they found on Google and read the A Place for Mom reviews, which tend to be more detailed and more narrative than Google reviews.

From A Place for Mom, many families go to Caring.com, which is another major senior living directory with its own review ecosystem. Then they check Facebook for local community sentiment. By the time a family picks up the phone, they may have read reviews on three or four separate platforms — and they are comparing the picture each platform paints.

What Happens When Families Land on Your Website

Here is the critical part: after doing all of that research across all of those platforms, the family lands on your website. And in most cases, your website has no reviews at all.

The research journey they have been on has conditioned them to look for social proof. They have been reading reviews for the last thirty minutes. They land on your website and see marketing copy, beautiful photography, and a list of amenities — but no reviews. No validation from other families. No independent confirmation that the community lives up to what the website promises.

What many families do at that point is bounce back to Google or A Place for Mom. They go back to the directories where the reviews are. And on those directories, your competitors are also listed. You have just sent a warm prospect back into a place where your competitors are one click away.

The Cost of Missing Reviews on Your Site

The absence of reviews on your website does not just mean a missed trust signal. It means an active risk that the prospect leaves your site and lands on a competitor. Every family who bounces back to a review directory is a family who may end up scheduling a tour somewhere else.

The fix is straightforward: bring your reviews onto your website so that the research journey ends on your page, not back on Google or A Place for Mom. When families can read your A Place for Mom reviews, your Caring.com reviews, and your Google reviews all on your own website, there is no reason to leave. The social proof they are looking for is right there.

How Reviewaroo Covers the Platforms That Matter

Reviewaroo connects to the review sources that senior living families actually use — Google, A Place for Mom, Caring.com, and Facebook — and displays them in a unified feed on your website. New reviews from any connected source appear automatically. Your website stays current without manual effort.

The result is that when a family lands on your website after doing their cross-platform research, they find everything they have been looking for, right where they are. Your reviews from every platform they have already visited are present and verifiable. There is no reason to go back to the directories — and far more reason to pick up the phone.

If families are checking three or four review sites before they call you, the smartest thing you can do is make sure your website is one of them — or better yet, the last one they need to visit.
